I was contacted recently by a Chicago-based marketing agency named Upshot that has been studying the food-buying habits of men and women. They prepared this fascinating infographic, and I thought I'd share it with you (I'm not an Internet expert, so if the image isn't showing at a legible size, you can also download it here), and I'm interested to hear how it compares to your experiences. Who does the shopping in your house? The man or the woman?

That’s pretty accurate for me. When we first got married, my wife did about 95% of the cooking, mostly because I didn’t know how. I kept trying a few different things though, and all of a sudden, I could cook. We sort of divide up the responsibilities. She cooks the more elegant meals like lasagna while I concentrate on the comfort foods like chicken fried steak. I also control the grill and the smoker (although she is very much capable of dealing with both). She is still very much the better cook, but there are a few meals that I make that she can’t compare to. I try to have the kids help out as much as possible as well. Thank you for sharing.
Great tip to make any site or any info-graphic more readable: Hold down the control key and scroll the wheel on your mouse up. Makes many sites much easier to read.
I’m the dad and I match most of the majorities in all things on the infographic. I do about 98% of the cooking at home (wife doesn’t like to, and also thinks she can’t cook even though she makes some awesome dishes), so it makes more sense for me to do the shopping.
She recently offered to do the shopping, but she wouldn’t see the same deals that I do, wouldn’t grab an ingredient because it looks interesting, wouldn’t get inspired by walking by produce, wouldn’t remember to grab butter because we are out but I didn’t put it on the grocery list, etc.
